Things I’m Loving Lately

TGIF. Who is with me? Actually I can’t believe its Friday and almost the end of August! It has also been much too long since I have done a “Things I’m Loving Lately” post so let’s get to it.

figsFood: Figs. Fresh please. In everything. figsBut seriously, they are so good right now and they are not in season for long so I try to eat as many as I can before they leave me. I am winning.

photo 25fig oatmealLast night I made a Zucchini Fig Shake for dinner. I got the idea from here but tweaked a few things. My version is below.

Zucchini Fig Shake:

  • 2 fresh figs
  • 1/2 large frozen banana
  • 1/2 medium zucchini
  • 1 heaping tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • honey or other sweetener to taste
  • a dash of cinnamon
  • Milk of choice, just enough to get things moving, I used coconut.

photo 5Blend til smooth and if your like me eat from a bowl. I even topped mine with some Love Grown Foods Chocolate Power O’s…. best cereal ever.

Restaurant: Gracias Madre.

West HollywoodI tried this new to me vegan Mexican restaurant a few weeks ago with a friend. I had heard so many good things about Gracias Madre and it did not disappoint. Not only is the food delicious but the decor and atmosphere is so fun! I will definitely be going back soon.

Workouts: Spending lots of quality time on my bike and hiking. photo 15 1451358_838088052892802_7910562934531608092_n

It has been so nice to spend some time back in the saddle after a month away. That and just enjoying the last weeks of summer outside have dictated my workouts lately. Long bike rides and afternoon hikes have been my favorite way to unwind. photo 26

Made even better when I can get my sistasista to come with me.

Song: Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United.

This is one I actually often come back to and can listen to over and over and over again.  It’s always much-needed inspiration to trust God, to take a step out onto the water unknowing of what may happen. 5175c108e0656557ee384cf109346a6e

photo 29It is especially perfect for my early mornings, thinking about intuitions and goal setting.

– Place: Getting to go back to Pepperdine a few times a week.

I will be an assistant coach this year for Cross Country and Track! Every time I come back I have to stop and just admire how awesome and beautiful this school is. Although I am just getting started I am very excited to be coaching!photo 30Also this picture made me laugh way too much. I was trying to capture the girls running and the how amazing the view was this day and then the lawn mower got in the way. Oh well!

Happy Weekend!

Healthy Regards,

But seriously, can you believe it is almost September. Aka the ninth month of 2014?! Where has this year gone????????

What is food, restaurant, workout, song or place you are especially loving lately?

  1. I really need to get on the fig train. Everyone is tempting me with these amazing fig creations and I am just drooling! I grew up with a fig tree in my back yard, so it is almost like I don’t know how to shop for them, haha. Cracias Madre sounds fantastic. I would love to find a place that like around here!

Ah they are so good! The best ones I have found though are from the farmers market so I bet straight off your tree won’t compare to the ones you just buy at a regular market.

  2. I was just thinking yesterday that I’ve never eaten a fig and I’m not even sure why. You’ve convinced me to change that! A vegan mexican restaurant? No way! That would be a dream!
